You know it is very interesting to read postings from the Man Married to June! You would get the feeling that in a past life he was an outstanding Attorney! He never directly answers a question and generally adds one of his own to any comments....

Funny . . . he claims to have been in the wheel bearing industry . . .

Well . . . wheel bearings can get hot, as we found out on our way to Quartzite last January!

However, that still doesn't get Terry out of supplying the Fireball at Central City!

OK, I got Fireball; but I'm anxious to try that new stuff Garry mentioned. BTW, did someone put a sign on my back saying Hit Me? Remember, paybacks are H***. And, bearings don't get hot if there're properly cared for:. So, Whose gonna serve me first?

No one needs to worry about their behavior...hint, hint, wink, wink:rolleyes:
Just remember: most of us have cell phones that have cameras....
I so enjoyed being in King Soopers (shopping for our upcoming trip) and getting all your "replys to thread" comments. I was in a very slow line and they helped make it bearable!!:p

Howdy Coloradoans (and a few Arizonians?)
Phil and I just cancelled our reservations for Central City. We will miss being with you all, good news however, is that we are now doing our itinerary that we got sidetracked from last fall. Only a year behind schedule! We are in West Yellowstone, Montana for another week or so. We had a great time at the Heartland Rally and we will be heading up to Washington/Oregon coast, eventually going south along with the weather.
We know you will all have a good time! We will drink a fireball toast at the appointed time :p or maybe you'll change to Bill's "Moose Milk" - he made it for us up here in Montana! And Pam's Fireball Cheesecake...

PS Many of you know that our dog Shea was diagnosed with Lymphoma just after the Colorado Campout in May. We ended up spending the whole summer in Colorado (which was greener than I ever saw it in our 13 years of living there). She had several rounds of chemo. She is doing well, though I do think that took its own toll on her. She has lost most of her fur around her eyes and mouth, but aside from looking a little like Alice Cooper, all in all she is good.

Good to hear you are beginning your west coast adventure. You will be missed at Central City. Safe travels and enjoy!

Hello Rally Goers...I have some info concerning a possible route to Central City. Some people have mentioned they may want to take US Hwy 6 out of Golden & thru Clear Creek Canyon. I have not been able to find any listing of the heights of the tunnels along this route...and believe me, I have tried! I have looked online as well as in our copy of "Truck Carriers Atlas" and there are no restrictions listed other than width (10 feet). Don even took a partial tour on Google Maps, Street View of the route and he did not see any signs along the road prior to or on Tunnel 1 of its height :(
If anyone has absolute information concerning the tunnels along this route please post on this event.

I have talked to several people who said they have driven through those tunnels with 5th-wheelers . . .

I've done it with our old bumper-pull trailer.

Those big tour buses to the casinos go up that way as well.

I found this attached PDF file on the CDOT website . . . look at page 4!

I also found these two videos of drives up Clear Creek Canyon (Hwy 6) on Youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6O0zIYNJkg

Turn the sound down on the first video (about 4 minutes long) and about 3 minutes in they will catch up to a 5th-wheel . . .

The second video is 10 minutes long and better quality.

John, Thanks for the info :) on the tunnels along US 6, Clear Creek Canyon.
After deciphering the CDOT info we would not be able to take our Bighorn that route. Highest point on our rig is a bit over 13'1" and according to the statistics listed the minimum vertical clearance on #6 tunnel is 13'2" (wouldn't want to test that!), #5 is 13'1", #3 is 13'0", #2 is 12'11" and #1 is 12'7".
I did check out the video...obviously that 5th wheel is shorter than ours.

Four more days to go . . . can't wait!

I will try to make a run up Clear Creek early this week to check out the tunnels . . .

John:

Ann has kicked Rick out of the house a day early so guess we are living tomorrow morning.....one night in ABQ and then on to Pueblo.
See you around noon on Thursday! Thanks for the tunnel information, we will avoid that route as Rick's BigHorn is 13'3" and he would have lost his AC if we would have gone that way...

I'm going to try and drive up there when I get out of work today.

I know the big semis drive up that way as does the big tour busses.

I'll report back my findings when I get home this evening!
