The Lumberjack show will be at 7:30 PM on Thursday, 8-27. I will need a somewhat accurate count so we can get a discount on the tickets. An others wanting to attend just let me know on here, PM, or email

Put us down for two - thanks Gerry.

We are now in Petoskey - wife has emergency surgery and I am stuck in Magus Park for at least 3 more days. Any suggestions from members of what to do to occupy my free time while waiting. Suggestions for good restaurants, golf courses, fishing locations, etc?

You couldn't pick a better town or campground to be stuck in. Sorry about the circumstances, though.

Petoskey is about ten miles south of Harbor Springs - a town worth visiting (pricey, though). Head north from Harbor Springs through the "tunnel of trees" to Cross Village and eat at Legs Inn. Great American and Polish food right on Lake Michigan.

In Petoskey itself, go to Grand Traverse Pie Company for great soups, sandwiches and, of course, pie. Great caramel apples at Kilwins. Juliene Tomatos, about a block off the main street on Howard St.has great omelettes, muffins, etc. City Park Grill is good. All of these are in walking distance of Magnus Park.

Avoid La Senorita - had lousy food and poor service the last time we ate there.

There's Odawa Casino which I understand has outstanding food south and east of the downtown area. Also in the area is a Sam's Club.

Just south of town, off US 31 is a mall with Lowes, HD, WalMart, movie theater, and several other stores. On the other side of the highway from there is a Meijer's supermarket. If you have time to explore, head over to Charlevoix. Shopping along the main drag and there is a decent restaurant (The Wren?) at the bridge over the channel to Lake Michigan.

If you haven't already found it, there are a lot of specialty chochkie shops in downtown Petoskey, in the area of the City Park Grill.

Ooops, my bad! That should be US131, not US31.

The Weathervane in Charlevoix on the canal is great food and atmosphere. The trout dinner was awesome. It is one of the Stafford restaurants of which there are several in the area including Petosky. Also go to the tunnel of trees and Leggs Inn in Cross Village for a great Polish meal and beautiful view

That's the name, Weathervane. Not the Wren. CRS is a terrible disease.

Gerry and Deb I guess we should have been following the forum closer. We will be arriving August 26 and leaving August 31. Is it too late to be included in the Lumber Jack show?

Friday, the 28th is going to be Mackinac Island Day for those who would like to go. You can check out the packages the Star Lines offers at:https://www.mackinacferry.com/order-tickets-online-6/
They also offer a free shuttle to and from the campground on the hour and by call.
Debbie and I are going to do the Discount Island Package for $55/person which includes the ferry, carriage ride and admission to the fort.
We are also considering the Grand Buffet at the Grand Hotel, although that is quite expensive at $45/person. Definitely not something I would expect a lot of takers on.
Within the next week I will post our full agenda and it will also be in your welcome package when you arrive
