I asked the service writer if they used high quality synthetic grease, and he assured me that they did.
I have the ST235/85R-16 LR G, 110 PSI tires with the 3750 load capacity. They have a Geostar tire in this size. The 1st of the previous 2 I bought of those I was on the road in 2011 in Raymond, Wa. when a motorcyclist told me about a large sidewall bubble in one of my original Freestar tires. Les Schwab in Aberdeen is the only place I could find quickly that had a ST tire in that size. Then last year in Idaho, I had a drum/bearing failure that shredded a tire against the shock bracket. Again, I could count on Les Schwab to have the tire in stock in American Falls, Id. These 2 Geostar tires have held up well so far, including my trip to Gillette/Mt Rushmore last summer.
I bought 6 tires last week - 4 Michelin's for the truck duallies, and 2 Geostars for the trailer to replace the remaining Freestars. Plus I added airbags to the truck. I'm getting ready to travel the 2000 miles to Goshen in early June.
Hi Again Bill:
That is interesting; I never thought about Les Schwab doing wheel bearings. Did you specify the grease, or simply use what they normally use. I've got that task coming up this fall after I return from AK, before we head out for an outing. I would presume that they could switch out bearings as well, in so much as they are repacking them. My thought process was to grab a set of Timken bearings and put them in as long as the hubs are off.
Additionally, I'm mildly interested in what brand tires that you got from Schwab. I checked with them before I bought tires this past February. I felt they were a little high on the Goodyears. I finally went up the street in Redmond and bought Maxxis tires from Discount Tire. gebills
