Orange water?

Senior Question Asker
We spent a month in New Orleans, came home for two months and now, when using the kitchen faucet and toilet the water randomly turns orange.

This is NOT the color of our winterizing solution (that's hot pink.)

Everything was fine in New Orleans and we're using the water straight from the tap (not the fresh water tank.)

We were at a different campground last week when I first noticed the problem. Now we're a state away and the Orange is deeper in color.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a lot of Iron in the water. If you're at a good source of known water now, just keep flushing the system. We run our water through a good filtration system that catches more than just sediment. If you don't filter your incoming water, I would recommend that you do.

Iron Algae. Common in water systems that are stagnant for a period of time. I see it a lot in vacation homes around my area. Sanitizing the water system, including the tank and water heater usually clears it up.
