What did you do to your camper today?

Well, all the talk on this blog educated me about GVWR. I learned that the ONLY thing that matters for pin weight is the "yellow sticker" on your door frame. Therefore, out with the old (2011 Ford F250 4x4 Diesel SRW at 2,160 lbs load ) and in with the new (2016 Dodge 3500 4x4 Diesel DRW at 5,436 lbs load). What did I do to my trailer today? I bought her a new horse!!!

BTW, the Ford F250 is for sale.

Sweet ride! You will love the towing ability of a horse suited for the load. Congrats!

If it does not have the factory pucks, you can add them our self as I did. The B&W RVK3600 is the go to hitch. Chris

Yup!

My previous (1996 Dodge Ram 1500) and current (2015 Chevy 2500HD) trucks were that same color . . .

Winterized the rig using compressed air followed by pumping antifreeze throughout. I've forgotten who's idea it was, but I attached an extension to the antifreeze suction hose and put 4 gallons of antifreeze into a $3 bucket. Made it pretty quick and easy to get antifreeze everywhere, including the washing machine.

Modified the panel on the rear wall of the pass through basement storage. Took off the piano hinge and installed C-channel on the floor to hold the bottom of the panel. While at MorRyde, I had the cargo tray installed and could no longer fold the panel down flat. Now the panel can easily be lifted out.

Replaced the original lugnuts with Gorilla Lugnuts.

DW cut out a new cardboard travel cover for the dining room table. The old one was attacked by a soap dispenser on the way to Las Vegas.

Was going to take the Prowler to get it weighed today, but had a plumbing leak in the house . . . so had to fix that instead.

Will get the trailer weighed tomorrow.

However, I did replace the two furnace floor vents upstairs in the Prowler today.

I replaced the stock plastic always open floor vent covers with a set I purchased at a local Camping World store that have a damper built-in, also made of plastic and the only one they sell.

However, they both melted the first time we ran the furnace on our way to the Vegas rally (here is one of them):

These plastic vent covers work great unless the furnace is directly under the bathroom and/or bedroom, as is the case in our Prowler.

The new metal ones fit the hole in the floor, but don't have screw holes to anchor them down, however, I ran the furnace and they work perfectly!

Had the trailer weighed today . . .

Put roughly 2/3 of a tank of fresh water in it to mimic what we would most likely have in it - 1/3 tank fresh water and up to 1/3 of a tank each of gray and black water, the basement loaded with our usual stuff, fridge is empty, one full and one 1/2 full LP 40 lb. tanks, and the truck had me and a full tank (36 gallons) of gas in it.

Truck on the scale, trailer hitched up but not on the scale - 9220 lbs.
Truck and trailer front axle on the scale - 12,700 lbs.
Truck and trailer completely on the scale - 16,540 lbs.
Truck off of the scale, trailer hitched up and just the trailer's rear axle on the scale - 7520 lbs.
Trailer only unhitched from the truck on the scale - 9860 lbs.

Now I get to go out and back it in to it's parking spot next to the garage.

Installed new Torqlift Glowstep Revolution steps with a lot of help from friend Denny McHone (OK, he did most of the work and I helped). Pricey, but DW absolutely loves them, so worth the money. Much better spacing than the originals, rock solid feel, and two leveling/step height adjustments.

They look great! We love ours, too!! But I'd recommend not using the step covers, as the steps' treads really have great traction, even when wet.

The dogs won't use the bare aluminum to go up or down. They're giving the covers a try, so if the dogs will accept them we'll leave them.
