sorry Bob but I think they probably had the same QC we did or of a similar type. Our transfer switch was wired incorrectly so that when the genny was running the juice was sent out the wire that went to our shore power hook up, instead of into the breaker box. Had I not caught this, had the...
Don, I am a former Uper from da Soo. Was over by Munising this summer and it was beautiful, as always. What is the name of the mat that allows grass to grow thru? Have never heard of that and would love to get one. Scott
Olcoon, what other expensive items (over $25k) have you purchased that have quality issues similar to what was posted here? I, personally, am not aware of any. My wife and I are really struggling with our decision to full time in an RV due to the many quality issues we read about here and on...
Can anyone explain why the goodyear tires do not come standard on all Heartland RV's? And please do not cite cost as an issue. This seems to be such a common issue and there are seemingly hundreds of posts on this site about blowouts. Just from a safety perspective alone it would seem the...
Isn't the real issue here as to why the black tank would fall out of a brand new rv? If the tank had not fallen out like it did the rest of the OP's issues would not exist.
you will likely not be able to cool your unit down to 75 when it is 100 degrees outside. the units are not constructed with enough insulation to allow for this. this comment is based on previous posts on this site. in the area you descibe you will need to run all your hvac units 24/7 during...
I think your first problem occurred when you developed the idea that you purchased a luxury fifth wheel when you did not. Luxury fifth wheels are not purchased for the price you paid for your Bighorn. Not knocking Heartland and/or their Bighorn line. My research indicates that a luxury, more...
Thanks Greg. This topic has garnered much attention on this site. The "excuse" is always cost. That is the same argument the US automotive industry used to use until the foreign auto makers started to take over the US makers market share. We know how this impacted the quality of US made...
I want to thank those who participated in this post. You saved my wife and I from spending many thousands of dollars. We will not be purchasing this type of RV (not just Heartland but any other at this price point).
I am always a bit amazed at the accepting attitude of RV owners when it comes to the lack of quality control in these rigs. The first several points in this original post are clear examples of extremely poor workmanship on the part of the Heartland staff that built this rig. It should be...
Interesting thread. so the takeaway is that if I decided to invest $90k in a Heartland product I would need to then throw out the mattress and tires.....anything else gotta go?
Be especially careful to analyze your needs with respect to carrying capacity. We were looking a toy haulers until we discovered that we would not be able to haul all that we needed to haul in the garage and still be able to haul the other necessities such as water, food etc. At the time we...
I am not sure that I would agree that any roof bubbling is normal, but that is just me. This is also a fairly common issue as owners post about this fairly often here. HL ought to communicate to current and potential owners as to how they are changing/improving their manufacturing process to...
There is a reason why all vehicles have established towing and payload capacities. I personally would not tow a single mile if I was exceeding the established safety measures. I could not imagine how I would feel if I was the cause of an accident due to exceeding these established safety...
crazycooter, would agree but since Heartland is now at only 2500 I did not want to shock them! DW and I were ready to purchase until I started crunching numbers on CC. Came up short. We are now trying to figure out plan B. May need to sell the truck we purchased and go with a DP and a...
I would hope that Heartland engineers look hard at these discussions involving CC of TH's. The CC really needs to be around 3500lbs to make these TH's a bit more practical. DW and I are looking away from Heartland products because other manufacturers are making TH's with much higher CC's. In...
Interesting that someone has deleted by post. Wonder why? My post has also been deleted from my history file. Did not insult anyone or call anyone rude/snide (as other posts in this thread have, which posts have not been deleted as mine was). Would appear that this site has some very odd...
Are you planning on driving around the entire lake or just visiting a portion? I was involved in a motorbike ride, counterclockwise, around the entire lake years ago. Took us two weeks and that was riding hard each day. Trip of a like time.
Porthole, Appreciate your comments. Don apparently does not feel the same with respect to my comments. All I know is I was under load and lost my steering. Nearly drove right off the road and into the woods. Scared me to death! As I stated in my previous post I am not sure how my steering...
To All:
We have a 2012 Dodge 3500 DRW. Just got it back from dealer after we lost power steering while hauling a load of firewood. Very scary situation. Not sure if our loss of steering was caused by same issue as this recall.
I would highly recommend that if you own a vehicle under this...
Would seem odd that ballooning of your roof membrane would be considered normal? If, in fact, the entire membrane is glued down how could this be deemed to be "normal"? Willing to bet that this leads to bigger issues down the road. If it were me I would demand that it be re-glued. IMHO.
