We spent a month in New Orleans, came home for two months and now, when using the kitchen faucet and toilet the water randomly turns orange.
This is NOT the color of our winterizing solution (that's hot pink.)
Everything was fine in New Orleans and we're using the water straight from the tap...
We were able to get non-$50 seals from a trailer store ($5) although they have no brand marking and the trailer store didn't know the brand. The look and feel identical to the manufacture ones. We re-packed the one wheel we took apart with new grease and one of these new seals (since we tore...
Guy at the trailer parts store explained that the one we bought from Napa was a triple seal, not a single like is currently on the rig. Wish the guy at Napa had known that. Explains my sticker shock. Trailer store seals were $4 each.

We're headed to a trailer store next. I'm keeping the expensive one until I can find a cheaper one. The brand is SKF and I went to see the names others recommended but there are so many random posts on this thread now and I'm on my phone without search capabilities.

Napa wants $50 a seal. Thoughts? We killed a seal (that sounds so wrong) this morning trying to get it out. So we bought one. But four would be $200. I said no!

Am I right to assume that these are the same parts/numbers that would fit our Big Country 3690 (2013) which has Dexter 7k axles? The Big Country, Big Horn and Landmarks share the same frame and axles, right?

I am repacking my bearing on my 2013 big country 3690 and wanted to replace the bearing seals. When visiting an parts store is there a specific part number I should be looking for?
I'm trying to determine how to know what seal to buy. I've searched the forum and see some part numbers listed. But I don't know if those are applicable to my specific rig (Big Country 3690 2013). How can I be sure what seal to get? Is it best to just take the wheel apart and bring the old one in?
I called around to a few places about trying to get it changed on the way out of town but most shops don't seem friendly to that sort of situation. They want me to drop it off and leave it for a few days. That doesn't really work since I travel with cats. :) Given the high price of someone doing...
I called a few mobile RV repair folks to see if I can get it done on-site. One said he could not while another said they could. The one that could quoted a price of $132/hour + $95 on-site fee. He estimated it would take 3 hours. That's close to $500 which seems pretty steep. What should I...
Thanks for everybody's feedback. Sounds like the safest thing is to get it done before leaving here. Andy, I'm currently in Slidell, LA so a recommendation of a good place nearby would be greatly appreciated. Also looking to take I-10 back to GA so anywhere on the MS coast is also close might be...
My wife and I recently came concerned because we have not been doing maintenance on the wheel bearing (packing, greasing, cleaning, etc) since we bought our RV. Our RV has around 7000 miles and is almost three years old. I know I want to get it serviced but I'm trying to determine the urgency...
We did run it on propane. Evidently we had a nest of some sort in there, which we torched. That freaked me out a bit.
We turn the hot water heater off when we're not using it. When we are, we turn the AC off. But honestly, sometimes the only thing running on Line 2 is the AC and that trips the...
That's what I meant. We'll get this "fixed" here and be able to test it there. We can't test anything at home and we leave to head home this Wed. So we'll have a better idea if we fixed everything at the next park.

So you still think replace the breaker? We are planning another trip next month and we think that park will have more reliable electric. This park has always done us good but we've never been here during the summer with them at full capacity. The low voltage is definitely an issue. Trips several...
I don't see that Eric mentioned the tuna fish smell that occurred near the times when the breaker tripped. Not sure if it's related or not but both times the breaker tripped we started smelling tuna fish in the rig which is odd since we don't eat that. It kind of reminded me of an electrical...
I've noticed in the last few days that the color of the water coming from the air conditioning looks rust colored. See attached pic. Seemed odd that it would rust in such a short time. We are under trees so perhaps this is caused by organic debris on the roof and the air conditioning water is...
The other day my wife switched on the gas for the hot water heater due to low voltage problems at the park preventing us from using electric. Later that day we saw the attached picture. I have not turned it back on again to see if it happens again (will probably try that this weekend). But...
I've recently had my 50 amp breaker in the RV trip 3 times. Twice yesterday and once about a month ago. My concern is that it might happen while I am away from my RV, cutting out the air conditioning which my dog depends on when I leave him alone. Below are a few facts that may or may not be...
Re: the damage.
They gave us the tires, we took them to her storage spot and put them on and then took her the mile down the road to our house and inflated to 109. Compressor couldn't go higher than that.
So I think we're good. Although we're in the market for a bigger, better compressor. :)
So we bought the TST 507 and it doesn't work. We've had it on for two trips and it has shown the pressure on 3 of the four tires for a whopping 15 minutes of the whole trip. Usually it's just blank.
Are we missing something obvious or did we get a bad unit?
Are you happy with your TPMS? We're in the market, ordering this week. I'd love to know what you have, if you'd recommend it, and what you think we should be looking for.
Thanks,
Alice
HOnestly, I would have turned him away. I've had horses in the past and their life is worth way more than my 5er. My cats ride in my 5er which is why we're getting new tires and retiring the old ones. Don't want anything alive riding on those suckers.
The Sailun tires look interesting. Although I like the idea of Goodyear (American company that backs their product with a warranty on the trailer) at almost twice the cost it's hard to justify. Especially since a search on this forum and the Internet at large reports good reviews on the tires...
On our most recent trip we had a tire blow out. Luckily almost no damage. Roadside helped up put on the spare and we continued on our way. But a new trip is nearing and I was unsure the best course of action to take to get me back on the road safely. Had the following questions:
Do I need to...
Other parts of our equation: Ellie lives at a gravel storage place when we're not using her. She's been on concrete pads (which I understand leeches the oil out of the tires?) less than two months of her life.
We also hadn't gotten around to getting her tire covers either.
We inspect them...
