I would look at the tires. They may look good, but a belt may be starting to go. When I lost the tread on my tire, everything looked good but had the burning rubber smell. Overheated or over used brakes have a much different smell than rubber.
I think the biggest thing is the weight of the AC. Lifting it up will your hardest thing. With a front one, you can lower the front jacks all the down. That should help with the height.
Re: ATF: Sundance - installing a hard wired surge protector
I would pull out the breaker box and see if you have room behind it. Or when the cable comes into the RV there may be room behind or under a cabinet.
On my BH, I had a wire run behind my breakers that was not installed. Heartland had red tape over the end. When I asked about it, they said it was a fireplace. I never looked for the other end. So I would think if you pulled out your breaker box the other end my be back there.
I keep it plugged in, slides out, fridge on in the summer. For winter slides in, unplugged, fridge is off. I have been doing it for eight years. It has worked for me.
You should be fine with your 50 amp. You my have tripped a resettable breaker. Also may have blown a fuse. To help you find any of these, we would need to know which Heartland product you have.
JohnD, your slide outs are not as deep on your new fifth wheel. That is why you can extend them out. You have two of them that need to come into the fifth wheel at opposite sides of each other. Ernie
That's a very good point. Add one more thing to the PDI list. I do have to wonder if Heartland puts batteries in. They do not supply the main house battery. Just my two cents. Ernie
A long story short, I bet your 5th wheel is fine. With my SOB I backed in to the king pin and put a hole in the bed of the truck; The 5th wheel did not move at all. I was not moving fast at all. The metal on the truck is a lot thinner than on the king pin.
What type of brake controller are you using? I very seldom have to adjust mine when I am towing. When I first started towing my BH, I had a mid-grade controller. The controller work great with TT or a lighter 5th wheel. About four years ago, I upgraded to a Prodigy brake controller. What a big...
I was able to get mine from Heartland. It was a few years back. Just call their parts department. Have your vin ready. I think I sent them a picture of my countertop to make sure I got the right one the first time. If you are a club member you will get a discount also. Ernie
Sounds like hot water bypass valves, behind the UDC. The low point drains should have their own shutoff valves that are hanging down from the bottom of the BH. The fresh water drain would be hanging down also. But it sounds like it was closed, as you are able to fill the tank. If you need...
Right now, I have a tarp over the roof. I am hoping that it does not rain this weekend so I can fix the tear. I will post a picture when done.
Dave, I have about three thousand miles on them. I have kept them covered and aired up to 80 psi. My plan was to replace them in the spring, as they...
It's been a long time since I was on the forum, but this is how the weekend went. Thursday night the credit card company called, my wife's card was compromised. On Friday, we get going later then normal for a trip. This was the first long trip with our son. About 1-1/2 hours, he was getting...
Heartland stop putting in Lowe point drains a few years ago. As for the fresh water drain it my not have be cut into the bottom. And is above the underbelly covering. Ernie

I do not have hydraulic landing gear. Form the ones I have seen it just a cylinder rod, just wipe with a dry rag. If their grease a little brake cleaner. Your rod should be chrome you do not want nick it or use anything that damage it. Ernie

John did you wire the fan to the light like the others? Also have you found the right settings? I just placed my order today for the fans. I have only had a problem one time with fridge. For $15.00 I think at least it would help circulate the air. Ernie

The axles on the truck Handel more weight then the gvw. This is because some trucks get a plow and others may get a utility box on them. So the axles need to Handel that. Yes you are under on the axles but over with the combined. I hope this helps Ernie
I would call Ford performance specialist. there in Georgia their phone number 770-949-7191 if you can talk to Doug he knows those trucks inside and out. I bought my gauges from them. They will point you in the right direction, and answer any questions you have Ernie
You should have no problem pulling it. Vans are better for towing travel trailerls then a pick-up. The back axle is closer to to the hitch ball. Must people buy pick-ups over a van. That is why you do not see vans towing. Ernie
Not sure if this is the right spot. Please move it if it is not. My wife Katherine and I had a boy today. He came in today at 5:23 a.m. 7 pounds 1 once. 21 1/4" long. His name Matthew. Will get a picture when they come home. The wife knows how to do all of that. Ernie:o:o:o:o:o:o:o
