Some of us have fun and enjoy working in a more technical manner. Some of us don't. I usually do a great deal of work to tie down the details of my major decisions. Personally, I do this one by using my experience and a seat of the pants understanding. People who want to be more quantitatively analytic have their equally valid way. People who want to completely wing it have their equally valid way for themselves. Each is having their own fun the way they like to have fun.
