All New LM365 Newport

I guess I should answer "WhyNot" with a truthful answer. I would wait mostly because I'm responsible for the new design. A lot of the ideas are mine and it's exciting to see them come together and people actually use them. It's a great feeling to have people tour the LM365 and make comments regarding the thoughtfulness of the design.

Asking me maybe isn't the best most unbiased answer you can get. I'm not factoring in time frame, money, needs and wants.

The inside of the LM365 features a solid surface buffet table with pop up charger, legless dinette table, oversized, sprung dinette chairs, the Waveland furniture collection, the motorhome tray style ceiling, the double sided island with two 13 gallon trash cans and hidden access to the back of the dishwasher and sink, the farm sink with sink covers / cutting boards, the step stool in the sofa table, the induction stovetop, the peg drawer for dishes or pots and pans, the 7'3" slide heights, the straight roof line, the new solid surface backsplash, sofa tables and spice rack, the French door refer, the EMS system, the ability to add a third a/c, the hidden tv/mirror, the Waveland sleep system bed, the newly redesigned closet with shoe boxes and solid maple drawer boxes through-out and the CPAP compatible night stands.

There are so many new things that are real usable features and innovations that in my mind make living in 430 square feet much more enjoyable - I think I would wait. Again, my opinion only. I know there are other factors at play that make each persons situation different.

I hope this helps.

Mr Montague if I could I would shake your hand and say thank you for your total honesty I would. With that said I believe that your heart and mind are leading so much in the right direction even in the very short time I have been on here posting and reading. You are totally right when you hear praise for work that you yourself have had a hand in always makes the job worth each and every moment that has been applied. I know the feeling being an owner operator of my own businesses.

Again thank you for your knowledge that in itself is priceless.

PS ... what about plugs in the Newport above the desk?

We plan on having two options for the Newport. First and standard is the 1/2 bath. The second would be a large walk-in Pantry / Office. The design will be done the right way. I haven't seen the final drawings and where the outlets are but I can assure you they will be in the right spots.

Have a great day.

Tom, thank you for the upgrades for the Landmark, My wife was thinking the Bighorn was a better value, but the changes that you is making is putting some distance between the two brands.

Agree with Dave. The painted slide sides add a real classy feel.

My original design was to have the graphics continue around the slide end walls but the cost was outrageous and the extra time the unit has to be in the paint shop was concerning as well. With all the new changes and upgrades I thought it would be best to hold off for now. I had a target price I wanted to hit and I didn't want to have to sacrifice any of the new features for paint & graphics on the end walls. Not sure its a great answer but its the truth... :)

One of the reasons that I purchaced a Landmark a few months ago was because it was the least expensive of the highend "fulltime" 5'rs. Heartland had a quality RV that pricewise other "fulltime" RV's could not touch. If the price point of the LM365 is close to other "fulltime" RV's then there has to be sometime special that truly stands out when compared it to a DRV or Excel. My dw and I are very happy with the Grand Canyon, but if it would have cost $18K more we probably could not have afforded it.

Just as a thought, if you are going to have the Landmark challenge other high-end brands, are you planning to increase the quality/price of the Big Horn to fill the void of the 2014 and earlier Landmark price point?

Thanks for all you and everyone at Heartland does.

Thanks for the kind words. My job when I was hired at Heartland was to make sure the Landmark had its own identity. The Landmark, Big Horn and Big Country had gotten so close it was hard to see the differences. Today, the LM365 stands apart - it's build for full-time living with full-time features. There are 17 million Baby Boomers reaching retirement age in the next 15 years. There is a tremendous opportunity in high-end fifth wheels over that same time period. LM365 was designed and built to take advantage of it and to hopefully position itself as the market leader.

To get the same features as a LM365 has today the only place a customer can look is DRV and the invoice will start anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000 more than LM365. Trilogy, Redwood, Lifestyles, Big Sky, and Tradition from DRV don't offer the same features so they can't compare...

I think we're on the right track and I can't wait for more retail people to get a private tour of the LM365.

Price point is always a concern. The New LM365 will be more money for sure but not that much more... Price is and always will be a concern. Please remember the Newport is the biggest coach we will build in our line-up and therefore the most expensive.

Let me quickly layout my plan for LM365 as we move forward:

I've broken the Baby Boomer generation down into three distinct categories.

1. Full-Time, Permanent Site or extended stay boomers who don't travel much anymore
2. Newly retired, ON THE GO boomers who want to see what North America has to offer
3. Work Campers or boomers wanting to retire but might need to work a bit longer to do so

I've based the new LM365 line-up on these three categories. Of course not everyone will fall into these categories but its a starting point. The new LM365 brochure will say LANDMARK365 BUYERS GUIDE on the front cover. I want people to open it up and immediately feel as if they are building a coach for their specific needs. The first page will say " Tell us about yourself " and you will see the three categories listed above. The next page will say " customize your frame " If you are always on the go then 8K axles, disc brakes and 17.5" Goodyear tires might be important to you. If you are a permanent site person then those might not be as important to you. The brochure will basically take you step by step through the process. Hopefully it will be well received and educational as well. I'm excited to see the finished version

41' - 43' coaches for group #1
36' - 41' coaches for group #2
34' - 36' coaches for group #3

Of course a retail customer can buy any coach they want but this is how I plan to market the new LM365. The prices will vary depending on options, size and specific needs.

This is just a sneak peak into my plans for the LM365. Hopefully you like the ideas.

I think it is awesome how you are interacting with forum members. I have always thought the club and this forum was a value added feature for the owners and Heartland . It's great to see you leveraging current owners experiences and opinions to produce a better product. I am planning on falling into group 2 in a few years and look forward to seeing the evolution of LM365.

Ok, ok, you have convinced me. I love how you break down the 3 categories and the possible options with each one. We personally do not need the extra half bath, but to have an option of a larger pantry and an office, that my wife and I would love. I am just going to have to start saving money.

This all sounds great. Can't wait to see the new floorplans and options. Harry and I have talked about the timeline for getting our next rig in a few years. We'll see if we can manage to stick to it!

Well I hope it all works out for the rest of the crowd that doesn't fit the 3 categories

The competition just announced an all new "Sequoia". Well, new to them.......... And they are claiming a 43% market share. Don't see how any one company could have 43% of the market.

Our goal is to have 3 LM365 floor plans to show at Hershey and hopefully 5 by the start of 2015.

The Newport is simply the first model in the new LM365 series. We will have between 6-8 floor plans total.

And chance for another bath and half model that isn't 43' long coming out?

Other half baths? The competition have them in the 40' range.

1. Full-Time, Permanent Site or extended stay boomers who don't travel much anymore
2. Newly retired, ON THE GO boomers who want to see what North America has to offer
3. Work Campers or boomers wanting to retire but might need to work a bit longer to do so

Maybe it is just me, but most of the current Landmark owners we know do not fit the above categories.
Hope we are not left out of what we are considering for our replacement.

We fall into cat 3 as far as being boomers who are working a little longer. However, we will not get anything less than 40ft on our next purchase.

Sounds like a cool project. I would like to see the floorplans as soon as they are available. When do you anticipate you will have them and the info up on your web site to look at.
