ATF: Bighorn - dry weight

wondering why different weights showing for same year & model. Ours is showing 11,236 shipping weight, but I see others showing 10,221. Is this an error on our rig? We have the 2011 Big Horn 3185 RL. In our province if the rig is over 10,000 lbs. we pay a higher license fee.. eg. $344.00 for a year. Under that 10,000 the fee is $140.00 for the year.
Thanks for any help

Look on your door there should be a yellow sticker which shows your actual weight when the rig left the factory. They weigh them when completed this shows the true weight with all options you ordered included.

Hi Brenda,

There are 3 weight numbers: Empty Weight, Dry Weight, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR).

The Empty Weight is 10,221. That's the design weight specification of a basic coach with no options.
Dry Weight is on the yellow sticker on the inside door jamb and represents the actual weight of the rig as it went out the factory door. Anything added locally would increase the weight above that number.
GVWR is the maximum the trailer is designed to weigh with all options, all your stuff, water in the tanks, and full propane. That's 14,000.

If you have a shipping weight of 11,236, that may be from the transport driver having the rig weighed and it should be almost the same as what's on the Dry Weight sticker.

Hope this helps.

Advertised dry weights are for marketing purposes only, like the car for $199 a month. Just to get you thinking you can "manage it". With all the options (2nd AC, larger fridge, auto level, dual pane windows, etc etc) and then your stuff, the coach will probably be 2-3k lbs heavier.
