I need input on some ideas.
Dale,
Glad you guys can make it! We can talk about setting up some golf either at Reedsport or wherever you guys ran off to last year. If we ask really nicely and they can make it to the rally, maybe the BBQ fish and oyster guys will share again.
Everyone,
Please start thinking of anything you would like to do while you are at that part of the coast. There is a really cool Botanical Garden just down by Coos Bay, less than an hour away. There is a casino about 30 minutes north at Florence. There are sand dune tours right up the Hwy in big sand buggies driven by others if you don't want to rent ATV's to drive for yourself on the dunes right outside the park. We could look at crabbing and/or fishing depending on the weather. In other words, there is lots to do and I can try to set up organized activities or people can just do as they please during the times we don't have rally activities. Just let me know what you want me to do.
I'm also thinking about setting up the sale of long sleeved t-shirts with our rally logo embroidered on the left chest. I'm talking to Brad at Martin Marketing, the same company that prints all the Heartland stuff. I'm thinking a burgundy would look nice and it fits within the Heartland color scheme and would go with the sweatshirts from last year.
Lots of people talked about long sleeved t-shirts last year and they are a less expensive option than doing sweatshirts again. I also think that going through Brad will let me get a better size selection so those who want an adult men's extra small could get it instead of having a shirt they could swim in.
Does that sound like something you would be interested in buying (about $20 each) to help cover rally costs?
We'll probably do some of the other more traditional fund raisers too, but people really liked the sweatshirts last year and they really helped financially with the rally. I learned a lot from doing the rally last year and I'm learning more from watching Larry and Debbi organize the Fall SoCal rally in Buellton. I hope to make this a really nice, fun, time to meet new people.
