Just received a serious recall on my 2021 GMC 3500 truck.
GM has a recall on the transmission module, it fails which is causing the rear wheels to lock up while driving.
Also the truck will go into low power mode and stay in 5 th gear.
It appears they know the problem but no parts to fix the issue at the present. They say once repaired , the warranty on this fix is 15 years or 150 k miles. They say it affects 2020 to 2022 model years currently ,, my neighbour has a2023 and his failed this week.

My neighbour was advised by GM dealer that the new valve was the fix. He's waiting for part to arrive. My notice states that I will be notified when parts available.
Nothing in notice stating software update was the fix.
Ill be contacting dealer tomorrow to see what they have in place for the fix.

Apparently, the word on the street, the 2023+ are not involved in the recall because the software was already downloaded prior to shipping/sale. The problem, again apparently, develops in a very small number of transmissions and I'm unaware of ANY hardware fix at this point.

Update. This recall can be a 2 stage repair. If dealer does not have the transmission valve .....
the dealer will do a software update. This will prevent the rear wheels from locking up on the road but truck will go into dumb dumb mode. Stick in 5 th gear and low power.
Truck will still need to have the valve inside transmission replaced.
The transmission pan will be removed and new valve is installed from bottom.
If dealer has valve in stock ..first step will not be necessary .
