OK, I need to ask this question in a different way. The first poll just asked people to list their preferred dates, but I need to to know more exactly what people can do since we ended up with virtually a tied vote.

So , please tell me if the rally has to be on one of the weekends for you to attend or if you could come either weekend, even if you would prefer one over the other.

We're looking at Winchester Bay (Reedsport), OR but people could decide to have a pre or post rally meeting at Seven Feathers if they choose and can get the reservations. FYI Seven Feathers is an "Indian" casino at Canyonville with a popular campground attached to it.

Thanks Everyone!

We're retired so either weekend is good for us. Winchester Bay is a better bet against possible inland hot weather at that time of year, and I think it is just as big as Seven Feathers. Too bad they don't have a rec hall on site for get togethers - that's the only advantage Seven Feathers has, in my opinon. Also Winchester Bay has the whole scenic central Oregon coast nearby, where Seven Feathers has . . . the casino.
Seven Feathers is good for a pre-Winchester arrival get together, but we will probably opt for a few more days on the coast, and a more scenic ride getting there, by taking 101 up north instead of I-5.
I wonder if Winchester Bay would let groups set up a good sized party tent like you rent for weddings, etc.?

we will be in Seaside June 2-6 and we are going to spent a few days going south along the coast, so June 11-13 would be great for us. Later in June does not work

Preference

Hi Kristy,

I voted but I did not see a way to give my preference. Even though I can make either one the 25th would be better.

Bill,
That is kind of my thinking about the two locations. Next year, I want to look at moving to the middle of the state, maybe around Bend where there are a couple of nice resort parks near lots of golf and shopping. I know there are people who really like the casino environment which is why I'm suggesting a pre-event meeting at Seven Feathers those who do. There are even more people who really enjoyed the scenery and peacefulness of the coast.

I hadn't thought about a big event tent. We were going to set up little ones last year, but renting a big one would be easier. I'll have to check into that and see what local rental shops up there have available. If the weather is rainy, the hall is close and has everything we might need. The park has plans for a rec hall/mtg room, but I don't know when it might actually get built.

We would prefer to have the Rally at Seven Feathers, either weekend

Dave

HI Dave,
Understanding that you would prefer to go to Seven Feathers, is Winchester Bay out of the question? I hope not because we enjoyed spending time with you last year, but I understand that you wouldn't want to make the trip if the coast isn't "your cup of tea."

Kristy:
Have you considered Casey's Riverside RV Resort in Westfir/Oakridge, 40 miles east of Eugene in the Cascade Mountains ON the Wilamette River? They have TWO fully equipped meeting areas, 1 an indoor room, and the other an outdoor covered area. Here is their website link:

Lots of reseviors, scenic drives nearby, and the rushing sound of the river over the rocks.

Some people would like Winchester bay and some would like Seven Feathers, why not have in Florence. We are currently staying at Pacific Pines and they have great facilities plus 3 Rivers Casino is right down the road. Just a thought.

ztev3,
Do you have a link handy for them? I would like to take a look, but I can't do a search right now or for the next couple of days. Parent conferences are keeping me busy.
Thanks,

Kristy,

We just had our Central CA Rally and several of us who were at your Winchester Bay Rally would prefer to go to Seven Feathers next year. It's a very nice location just off the freeway and better weather. :)

Teresa,
Glad to hear your rally went well.

Is it out of the question to do what we did last year and those who like Seven Feathers spend a few days there before (or after) the rally?

I'm looking at a park in Florence that appears to have a meeting room, full hookups, pull throughs, and be well kept. I'm also still thinking about Winchester, though the dates earlier in the month look like more people could come so far, and the weather without a room on-site could be a problem. I haven't checked into Casey's but I know people who have stayed there and love it, but it doesn't have a casino close by for those so inclined. Florence is only about an hour out of Eugene and would save us about 1 1/2 hours of drive time each way to get there. Oakridge is only about 2 1/5 hours from us. I know time isn't much of a consideration for those who are retired, but we aren't and our time off is limited.

Lots of people told me that they want to go back to Winchester. A few told me that they want to go to Seven Feathers. I thought maybe the group could compromise again like last year.

Kristy,

It's certainly not out of the question to do both Seven Feathers and Winchester Bay. I know alot of people enjoyed both. Some of the Central CA group would prefer to just go back to Seven Feathers and some would also like to go back to Winchester Bay. Last year, half of the Central CA group were also heading up north to another rally in Toppenish, WA so going to Winchester Bay was not a problem. It's a 2 day drive and much easier for Central CA group to drive to Seven Feathers, so that is why most would like to go there. Also, there was more to do in the immediate area. Taking a vote from some of the Central CA people, most would just stay at 7 Feathers and skip Winchester Bay altogether. It's become a popluar place for us and we all enjoy staying there and even willing to stay for at least a week.

The park in Florence sounds nice, but I don't know how many from Central CA would be willing to drive that far. With a large number of members from Oregon, I'm sure you'll still have a great turn-out otherwise, whether you choose to have it at Winchester Bay or Florence.

Overall, as a Chapter Leader you should choose what is most convenient for you as it is alot of work just planning the Rally, even more work during the rally. :):D Keep in mind that not all can make it to each and every rally.

Hello Kristy
we are retired so both will work for us, we would like the Winchester site as we don't do the casino bit. We do plan on attending no matter where you hold it.

We drove from Winchester Bay to Florence during the rally last summer. It is only 30 miles farther up 101. If you have driven 400 miles from central California already, that is no big difference.

Thanks everyone! All input will be considered.

Right now it looks like the earlier date is winning and Winchester is the probable location just because the Florence park hasn't even responded for a request for information. The pictures of the Florence park show lots of pavement which is good, but no grass which is not good for those of us who bring dogs we like to be able to put outside in a pen for some fresh air.

I totally understand that not everyone will be able to come to a rally no matter where you hold it or what dates you pick. The park Bill mentioned in Westfir is definitely a future possibility. We haven't been in there, but we know several people who have and its a nice place. I just want the chance to stay for ourselves before inviting a bunch of people for a rally.

Bryan and Tanna,
Have fun picking up your new trailer this week. We look forward to meeting you next June if not before.
