Pinbox Frame Flex (Again) in So. Ca.

On our previous rig, on the 5th wheel overhang (under the bedroom) area, the caulking would crack and separate when hitched. (Notice this caulking has been redone a few times. I'm better at it now than back then.) And then close up when unhitched.

I believe that the movement causing the sealant to break free is from excessive frame flex. Had the same thing on my 07 cedar Creek 34sats . The 07 ended up with bent and twisted frame and it also had several 2 inch cracks.
There was so much lateral stress one spindle broke off the axel.
Progressive totaled it and handed me a check for what I paid for it new , plus 1200

I ALSO had the rear frame lateral twisting problem in Fall 2014 (?) on my 2007 Bighorn, and had the Progressive adjuster look at it. Progressive denied the claim because there was no certain road damage event or collision. I got the rear half I-beams straightened and spliced by a very professional welder in Cloverdale, Ca for about $5000 of my own money. This welder had just completed the same repairs on another brand 5th wheel the week before mine.

Pinbox flex and bedroom slide cracks are a separate issue from the rear frame lateral bending. Fortunately (?) my Bighorn has become my "Immobile Home" for the indefinite future as I care for my elderly sister in Porterville, Ca.

Very sorry to hear that. When my claim went through I had just driving 500 miles from my house to Keywest. I told them that it wasn't like that when I left home.

I had made about 4 - 50 mile trips up and down US 101 on the Oregon coast between Florence and Newport. That section of road is pretty windy for a major highway. Think of the Big Sur coast, but a little easier. I didn't notice any problems when I finally left Florence heading south to my next stop at Gold Beach, but I thought I saw a little misalignment between the axles there. Nothing major, I thought and continued to Arcata Ca. for a RV club campout, and then on to Cloverdale Ca. and the Thousand Trails park where it doesn't cost me much to stay. The trip was all on US 101, which has a LOT of curves on the Oregon coast and extreme Northern California. When I went to chock the wheels in Cloverdale I saw that they were about 5 inches out of alignment with each other sideways.

BTW, the attempted slide frame repair was NOT done by the expert welder in Cloverdale - It was done by a bunch of frame repair incompetents in Fontana, Ca.
