Silverado 2500HD owners input needed

I'm sure there's a good reason virtually every big truck (semi, dump, cement, etc.) is diesel. Plus, a buddy of mine tells me that the diesel engine will have more longevity simply because the fuel itself helps lubricate the engine.

Also, if you own a Diesel model of a 3/4 or 1 ton truck you have everything Heavy Duty standard. My truck is the Basic F250 XL with hardly any options and I have everything to haul 23000lbs Gross Combined Weight. There was a time that the GM 454 was rated better then a 6.5L Diesel, I had one of those diesel and to tell you the truth it was as dependable to haul as any of the 454, with much less fuel.
