You might get lucky like I did on our prior 3055RL. The crimp came loose right at the T handle end. You can take the nut off the cable where the mounts to the trailer. Pull it through a little then hold the cable housing and pull the handle. You can fix it permanently by getting to the back...
Thanks Jim, this forum is what inspired us to purchase two Bighorns. Would've liked to had another if I could have found one that fit into our double towing needs/floor plan etc. Wont be a stranger.
PS. Still a Bighorn owner (3610 hasn't sold yet )
We have the LS. The lady that owned took super care of it. She invited to the roof and it looked like new. Spent two nights in it and everything worked perfect. I was surprised whow quiet the air and furnace were and how well both blew air. No tent in the vent needed on the a/c.
The 3610RE was getting to be a hand full. We had to take two pickups to AZ for the winter to bring all our toys (Harley, RZR and kayak) and to the WY mountains in the summer. Had to start double towing again as it was ridiculous to Pay for fuel and servicing two trucks. We ended up with an "08"...
My water heater quit working on electric a few days after we bought it. Found the wire nuts loose behind the wall switch and a wire out of place. Thought I had it fixed. Nope. Went to where the wire connects to the heater. Loose wire nut and wire out of place. Bingo, that did the trick. The guy...
Our "06" Bighorn didn't have 'em but the "11" has the horizontal mounted shocks that all the mounting ends of the piston rods are bent. I cant see much difference between the two years and have just kept an eye out for any broken ones. I am so tired of throwing money at RV's and all the "just...
The original rod in ours was worn out after the first season. I assume it was an OEM Suburban. I replaced it with an aluminum rod and it still looked relatively new after two years. I replaced it with another OEM and after a few months it was showing lots of wear. I guess we had better stick to...
We had a smell around out kitchen and when I went to find out about it I unscrewed that breather valve and it stunk so bad I thought I was going to vomit. Poured a bunch of bleach down the sink and the smell went away. We always put a couple of cups of bleach down it after dumping now.
Nice! We have one of those that we only can see in the right light that is annoying when we can. Might have to put a Jimmie Johnson 48 decal across it. Doubt that will go over though.
Good choice! We would have considered the 3010RE if it had the island kitchen when we where ordering out 3610RE. I like the shorter length. My backing skills are a little lacking for this long trailer plus I wouldn't have had to give up Double towing.
We owned a 3055 and our biggest gripe was the cabinet over the kitchen sink. Before we traded we were going to have it cut down so it would be about a half cabinet. If I remember they want 3-$400. Could not see the TV from the dining table or kitchen so we also thought of re-doing the...
I like the new 3585. Especially the Bed room bath room layout, lot more room around the bed. Not sure I would want an L shaped kitchen anymore. I get "trapped" in the back all the time because Renee seems to always want in there the same time I do.
Lynne, just about every medium sized town has an electric shop that can rebuild motors. They can replace brushes, bushings and even rewind armatures. Most times it is cheaper than a new motor and they should give you an estimate before they start.
I was the warranty writer for a high volume AG dealer. The majority of manufactures pay off of flat rate on warranty. Believe me we lost a lot of hours on many of those larger warranty claims. We would work on a lot of outside warranties, however, they took a back seat to our customers. Its only...
Re: ATF: Bighorn - Un-Happy with Mid-Year changes to 3010RE
Ours came with things we did not expect. Dealer made some things right like swapping dinette chairs from one on the lot. But some changes were better and they offset the ones we did not like. Take another look and see if that isn't the...
Well it all seems screwy to me. Dealer is a long ways a away. Was suppose to be delivered Monday and now it would be Wednesday? Never heard of a dealer getting anything shipped that fast and installed that quick. Let alone I doubt they even filled the tank or found a tank leak that fast in a...
I had the same problem with my 3055. There was plenty of room above the tank so I could push up the tank opposite of the pump intake and shimmed it up with some 2x4's so it would slope towards the pump. It then would use just about all the water. It did mess with the level sensors some what...
Forget the grease zerks. If you get tempted with the grease gun replace the zerks with a plug. Our brakes got packed with grease and were useless. I think the transporters pumped grease into the wheels with disregard to the consequences. My trailer guy wants me to have him repack the bearings...
We have a 3610 with rear entertainment. The surround sound center speaker is mounted too far up and forward to make it work realistic. Would like to mount one just above TV under the cabinets but not sure I can easily get a wire there. Any other suggestions?
I keep an eye open for leaks from mine. Any sign of a leak and that thing is coming out. Its right behind the shower service port. Probably should just eliminate it anyway.
Happened to me once when I plugged an extension cord into a series of dog bone conversions. Finally changed the extension cord and the problem went a way and the guilty cord went into the trash.
Well I gotta fail on the restricter drill out. The one in the BR sink was easily removable and works out great. No surge and plenty of water so you dont have stand around waiting for the sink to fill. Now the shower and kitchen sink are a different set of problems. Shower has "vacuum breaker"...
We had a 3055RL and needed the door switched. Dealer got a kit from Dometic and swapped it. Not sure why they dont make 'em so you can swap doors without a kit.
Thats the info I was looking for in my "surging" Post. SO the stinking government put the restricter in my shower faucet,eh? Well if there are any faucet police reading these post you can turn me in cause I am drilling that sucker out!
OK most of the pumps surge. Installed a SureFlo accumulator and it might of helped but not enough to brag about it. Pump is also noisy but it doesn't drive me nuts as the constant surging just filling up the bathroom sink. It take longer to fill the sink than I think is necessary. So I took out...
Does your trailer have any pocket doors? If so get a flash light and look down through the pocket. If it is like mine you can see that the pocket is open to the basement and the roof area in the back. I plugged mine the best I could with foam pipe insulation and stopped most of the odors when...
Put three in our old trailer after we found mouse droppings. Didnt seem to get rid of the meese so some baited traps in the storage compartment did the job.
Wasn't quite sure a 72" would work. They can be found at a fairly good price compared to having one custom made. Might settle for that. I sent out some quotes for 70" but pretty sure I am not going to beat the $499 price. Still not sure why Heartland decided to go with unconventional 70".
Seems all the after market memory foam beds for RV's come in 72X80. How come Heartland uses a 70X80? Cant seem to find a replacement mattress with out going with a high dollar custom made. Any suggestions?
We spent two days in Hurricane last Feb. house hunting. St George was a little busy for us and we liked the Hurricane, LaVerkin and Toquerville area the best. Dont remember any RV parks we passed but it is on the way to Zion so I bet there are lots of them. Pretty cool in the mornings. Great...
