Sorry Bill, probably late but I havn't been paying any attention to forums lately.
You could call Bachmann and enquire about the wire. They used to be pretty good with parts and service, but it's been years since I've dealt with them.
That section of track is only $6.50 MSRP if you have to buy...
Yea, we're doing OK. I'm a currency trader and have been trading for over 6 years. I'm trading full time now. Been very busy and away from all the forums for a while. I'm completely out of trucking and the RV industry now.
I finished the electrical and had the final inspection in August but...
Thank you.
The radiant barrier is done, the sheetmetal on the roof is done, the trim is done... Hmmmm building is done and ready for the inspector and then on to electric.
Hired the roof out as Mama wasn't giving up that fight. She didn't want me on the roof at all. Took them about 9-10 hrs...
Cool Bill. $10 is cheap entertainment and a huge return on investment if you have kids around. Looks like you have 2 of the Bachmann starter sets or a big portion of both sets, these sets retail over $100 each these days. Nice score for $10, you'll spend more than that on a sheet of foam at...
Jim, Moose thank you.
Yea Moose, this is where I wish I'd ordered a 1/2-12 pitch instead of a 3-12 pitch.
Finished the corner and eave trim on the front of the building before it got dark out and a thunderstorm ran me off. I wasn't paying attention to the weather and it snuck up on me when I...
If taking my kids and grandbaby to the water park on vacation is a job, I'll work it 24/7/365.:D
Moose, ya need to build you one. This color sure does show my dusty foot prints from pre drilling the holes. It would be great on a classic gambrel roof barn, Rustic red siding, polar white trim...
Got 4 more pieces of siding up. This heat and humidity is killing me as I have to wear long sleeves and a hat in the sun now because of the Methotrexate I take. Learned that the hard way with a touch of sun poisoning on my arms yesterday. Wasn't a problem before but now that my dose was...
Started on an end wall today. Sorted out the 5 different lengths of siding into separate stacks for pre drilling the holes and got 3 pieces of siding up. Should be able to finish this end up tomorrow.
If this thing gets reverse built, it'll be because of a direct hit from a catagory 4 or 5 hurricane or a tornado and I ain't sticking around for pics for anybody.
Alright, vacations over. Time to stop goofing off and get something done.
The siding on the front and back walls is complete and with any luck, I might be able to finish the siding on the end walls, corner trim and the eave trim this week.
I can't, I'm retired. If I go too fast it'll be too much like a no paying job and I might actually get something done.:p
Mama and I are fine. Just some follow ups on old stuff and Mamas getting her gall bladder checked out too. Just a bunch of visits and vacation that all happened about the...
Thanks Irvin.
Been a little busy with doctors appointments for both mama and myself, just some follow ups and adjusting meds, and a short vacation with the camper for our grand daughters birthday and away from the forums and build. Got the siding done on the front and half the back now will...
I havn't forgotten about this. Getting the itch to get back on it very soon. I did manage to bust open the wallet and pick up some more rolling stock. I used to always buy way more locomotives than I had rolling stock but I'm trying to change that. Do't know if I'll be able to contain myself. A...
Thank you,
That is "Rustic Red". I like old red and white barns but didn't want a bright red that would have been a bit obnoxious. I don't really care for that yellowish tan color everyone else uses on these buildings. The inside color is white so it should really help with the lighting too.
Thanks Jim & Pat.
LOL Duane, when I finish I need to get back to my other 50 projects around the house. Been hit and miss working on the shop this week buttoning up a few things on the framing to get it ready for siding. The frame is 100% complete now, ready to start siding. Forgot to charge my...
Re: MPG Question: Where can I get touch up paint for the MPG Platnum Frame?
They told you the truth. Lippert builds and paints the frames before they are delivered to Heartland and every other manufacturer that uses their frames.
Have you tried contacting Lippert? It's quite possible they...
Second roll up door is installed. I still need to install the header seal on it and that takes about 15 minutes. I just wasn't going to spend another 15 minutes outside with the one flipping man eating skeeter that wouldn't stop buzzing my ear for the last hour I was wrapping things up.
Thanks Moose. I like the roll up doors too. So far it's the only thing that actually came with instructions.
She's getting there. This field install stuff really brought the build to a crawl compared to slapping all the pre fabed framing together. Only thing left before siding is one roll up...
Bob, I got the winders in and a roll up door too, living in high cotton here.
Irvin, the windows and walk door are "field located" meaning I can put them wherever I want. All of the frameing is in red primer. Can paint it if I want but it's good as it is.
All of the windows are in, and I...
Finally got around to finishing up the door and framed and installed 3 windows today. Managed to break my nice brand spanking new Dewalt pilot point 1/2" drill bit today too.
Naw, I don't want my dogs getting sick eating some filthy maggot. Now the remote control mini gun. I like that. Hook the camera sight into my big screen TV and I wouldn't even have to get out of my recliner. Be just like playing on the Xbox :)
Don't pick on my door. It the first one I've ever had. Wait until I put the windows in next so I can get a little breeze going through the building.
Last shop didn't have any doors and security was never a problem. Of course the shed looked so ragged you wouldn't think I kept anything in it...
I don't think I can flap my wings fast enough LOL.
Hey, would you fire your me if I over slept and didn't get up until 9, showed up for work at 10, took a 10 minute break every 10 minutes, tore up $50 worth of drill bits and all I got accomplished was almost getting a 3070 walk door installed...
That first truck that's in my head is sitting in the back yard waiting to be stuffed into the new shop;)
If it's windy or nasty out, I'm just gonna kick back in the recliner and kill some zombies on the Xbox. No worries there. I don't think my bones can handle a parachute landing fall...
Thank you Randy.
The main frame is almost done. Just need to get the walk door, roll up door frame cover trim, window framing, rake angle, corner angles and possibly the windows on and it's time to put on the siding. I may go ahead and install the roll up doors now while everything is still...
I was feeling the pain yesterday. It was taking me about 45 minutes per section of purlin to get them in place x 16 pieces = 12 hrs of climbing and moving the ladder and jumping in and out of the skidder for that juggling and balancing act.
I didn't get anything done on the building today...
6 guys in 4 days........ Glad I gave myself 4 weeks. LOL
Nope, never built anything like this. I'm as green as a greenhorn can be doing any kind of construction work. My experience with metal fab is shipfitting, sheetmetal fab, autobody and welding. I studied CAD drafting and can read...
Thanks Bill. Any advise is always appreciated. Interior leg up is exactly how the blueprints show the girts and the easiest way to mount them to the columns. Leg down would be easier to clean but a real pain in the rear to hang, especially for a one man show like me. I'm putting this building...
Thanks Jim.
I ain't gonna be able to bring this project to the rally. Y'all have a great time in Goshen. Say hello to everybody for me.
Everyone travel safe. It's better to be late than not make it at all.
Making progress a little at a time.
I assembled and installed the end wall trusses, took a nap and went back out and installed one girt and a couple of braces.
A strange thing happened to me. At 3:30PM I came in the house, made a samich, sat in my recliner and the next thing I knew, my samich was gone and it was 8PM... Musta been a time warp.
Spent half the morning in town and finally got a little bit done. Slapped a home made truss extention for the skid loader together out of a couple 8' pieces of 4x6 and a couple 1/2 x 6" eye bolts and 2 ratchet straps on each fork, works really good. Well enough for me to install the truss by...
Anytime. Nooooooo problem. I'm always ready to help someone out with their cash surplus problems. LOL
Got a bit more done today. These 95*F + days are killing me. Tomorrow I'm going to tackle one of the hardest parts of this building which is hanging the trusses. The trusses on the end...
