How many miles on your tow vehicle

2007 GMC 3500 Dually 6.6 Duramax 115000 miles with turbo codes bugging me.Replaced turbo vane sensor $1200 and still turbo codes. The vehicle works
and hauls fine with lots of power.Very annoying with the code P003A on and off constantly.A new turbo replaced is $4200 so its a major repair.

Don't know who priced you the turbo repair. A new Garrett will run you $1500 - $1800, and cheaper OEM ones for less than $1000. There are rebuild shops that will rebuild yours for less than $500. Decent mechanic should be able to R&R 4 -5 hrs.

Just purchased (9/17/15) 2005 RAM2500 HD with the Cummins 5.9. Second owner with 119K miles. Was out last weekend with our '11 Greystone 32RL (9/17/15 purchase 2nd owner as well, but not same as truck) current miles 124,510 and still amazed at the attributes of this truck.
Wife was skidish about our getting back on the road again, especially with a truck with "so many miles" on it. She's a happy camper and believer now! (Whew!)
Have no plans to ever get another truck. At 73, I'll keep this combination until we feel we can't handle it any more, or the kids say IT'S TIME to move on.

Why so much for a turbo? You can buy a complete turbo for $1500 or less.

Our 2004 3500 GMC was 180k I think, and really it wasn't the engine -- it was other things -- that made us look at something newer.

I have a 2005 GMC duramax diesel with 170,000 miles. I have maintained meticulously since it was new. It runs great and looks like I bought it last week. I really enjoy my truck but my wife tells me that maybe it is time to get another truck due to its age and miles. How long do other members keep their diesel tow vehicles?
Our 2003 Dodge 3500 dually has over 219,000 miles on her. My wife and I will not sell the truck.

My 2005 with 150000 miles is better then new. So why should I look for a newer one and need to build that one to.
Just put a new turbo to replace the older worn one for $800 plus shipping in the states.
Takes me 30 minutes to install.
Just spend $2000 to renew my truck to last me an other 10 years with minimum maintenance. Equals 3 monthly payment on a new truck.
Wow the ARP studs can clamp a head to the block.

Bones I did have help. Truck had 480,00 when I bought it 3 years ago. I add about 10K a year pulling our Cyclone.

Our first truck, 2002 Ford F350 DRW 7.3, bought with 145,000 on it, sold at 213,000 (still running like new).
Second truck, 2013 Ford F350 DRW 6.7, bought new, had 69,800 on it when involved in a wreck that totalled it, never a problem with it.
Current truck, 2016 Ford F350 DRW 6.7, bought new two months ago, already at about 8,100 miles on it.

My truck has about 600,000 miles on it now. Bought it used in 04 with 495,000 miles on it. I figure I'll continue using it until it's time to hang up the keys.
