Tire wear on triple axle models?

I replaced my Towmax with Carlisle's from Discount about a year ago. I probably have 4k miles on them now, and I'm very happy. I had nothing but problems with the Towmax during only only year and 8k miles. The Carlisles seem to be much better made, and Discount claimed they were completely...

    Cyclone Rally at Edwards AFB!

I retired from the Air Force yesterday, and started my new career as a contractor at Edwards AFB. I'm staying at the FamCamp until we get the AZ house sold and we can buy up in Tehachapi. There are 2 other Cyclones here, which is the most I've ever seen in one place (besides the dealership)...

Disappointment with new model Cyclone's has stopped a sale

Jerry, Have you looked at the 3800? It is a model that is definitely focused on the family space, and not the bedroom, and we love it. Lots of room and storage, and a full size closet up front. Even a few places to store full size plates flat. At first we were worried that there wasn't...

    EGT While Towing

I run a Spartan tuner, which pulls all it's reading from the Ford sensors. I've never worried about the EGT, as it never gets close to redline. I'm usually much more concerned about oil and transmission temps, and appreciate the accurate readouts on those (vs the factory idiot guages). If...

Great Service in Sun City, Az

I want to give a shout out to Kevin and the family at Van's RV in Sun City, AZ. They've done a fantastic job taking care of my family (and my rv) several times when I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan the last two years. They go out of their way to make things right, and do great work...

    Check your wheel bearing seals.

Same - after 1 year I had our local shop repack the bearings, and 4 of the 6 wheels had grease past the seals. I never greased them, so it sounds like the guy at the factory gets excited with the grease gun.

    Carlisle Radial Trail RH Recommendations

I replaced my Towmax with Carlyle's from Discount tire last fall. Discount told me they didn't sell the Carlyle's for years because of quality problems, but that Carlyle redesigned the tire, and Discount road tested them for a year before they would sell them again. He told me he hadn't had a...

Thinking of Buying a 5th Wheel Heartland Cyclone 3800

We've had our 3800 for 13 months now, and lived in it for about 4 of those, camped in it another 6 weeks total, so we are getting our money's worth. We've towed it roughly 12k miles in that time, with our 2008 F-350 SRW 4wd. It does a great job, even in the mountains, and I have no desire to...

    4100 Second bathroom drain....

I added a blank tank flush to the rear tank. It cost about $30 at camping world. It took about 2 hours start to finish. I put the hose connection in the bay with the rear valve handles. Well worth it, IMHO. When I fill that tank to flush it, I run the flush, stand on the tank flush handle...

    My 3800 Mods

Shane, I'm glad you didn't wait to long to send me a PM, because I'm in Afghanistan and haven't checked back here in a few months! On my trailer, Heartland stored the tables on the upper bunk already, so I was only adding the weight of the shelf unit (I'd guess 60 lbs). I doubt Happy-Jack...

    Winter package/Insulation.

I pulled down the Chloroplast this fall with the idea of improving the ducting to the back. I gave up... They ran two 2" flexible ducts from the furnace to the back of the trailer. One goes about 10' and feeds the kitchen - fairly effective, the kitchen gets warm and the heat coming out of the...

Please make under belly in sections.

When I pulled down the Chloroplast, I cut it into sections. I cut a 10' 4x1 of cedar down to fit between the frame rails, then screwed the Chloroplast to that. I don't plan on pulling it down often, so I also sealed the seam with Gorilla tape.

    ATF: Cyclone - Bed ladder.

I use a foldable 3-step stool. I need it around the campsite to adjust awnings and open the kitchen fan flap, anyway. It also folds flat to pack easily in the garage.

Options to Purchase on 3800 or 4000

You can pull down on the arms and tighten the tension nut to get pitch on the awning. They are pretty high, so you need a step stool or something to stand on to do it, and then, of course, you need to loosen them again to put them away.

    Hookup for blackwater tank flush

Re: Blackwater Tank Flush The Blackwater flush is for the front tank only. I added a blackwater flush to my rear tank before I ever used it, and routed the hose fitting inside the rear valve door. What you are describing for the UDC doesn't sound like my 3800 at all, so I'm sorry, can't help...

    What kind of hitch

I am an honest person. I have an F-350 SB and a Husky 26k slider hitch. I've never used it, and parked in some pretty tight spots with a 43' 3800. Now, I get more worried about trying to turn a triple axle camper so tight that I would worry about it, but your mileage may vary. In hindsite, I...

    2012 Ford Super Duty F-350

Yes, SRW 2008 F-350 CC/SB 4WD. 3800 is ~16.5 for me. Initially it was stock. It would pull comfortably at 35mph up a 6% grade, but the clutch fan would come on often. Down a 6% grade at 55-60mph, I would have to give the brakes a strong application every so often to keep the speed down, but...

rgwilliams, To offer you some perspective, I balanced my tires as soon as I took delivery. I installed a TPMS. I took good care of my tires and kept an eye on them constantly, hoping to avoid problems. I operate 2k lbs under gross. After 6k miles I had one Towmax seperate a belt, but caught...

    Happyjack bed brackets broken

As I was setting up in N CA, the lower bunk would not lower passed the upper bunk stops in one corner. They're Ordered, New Shoes for the trailer

We have the 507 and love it. We do not have a repeater, and it works fine, but it does depend on where you want to install it. If I secure mine mid-dash or set it on top, it works fine. Lower and it will drop a signal every so often. It comes with a nice little stand, so I set it on top of...

Is anyone happy??? I am really afraid we just made a very costly mistake.

I'm sure you will enjoy the heck out of it, but unfortunately, you will need patience the first year as you work the bugs out. Ours has spent more time at the dealer that I would have prefered the 1st 6 months, but I refused to let it interfere with our trips - letting the issues pile up at...
