Has anybody replaced the single lever kitchen faucet with pull out sprayer unit with what they consider a real upgrade? I see several for sale like the old original. Mine has the single hole for the plumbing and the 8" wide screw pattern.
I got up on the roof and started washing it and there were a lot of yellow jackets came out of the roof air conditioner cover. I killed about two dozen of them and washed the front half of the roof. I need to remove the cover and get rid of the wasp nest tomorrow and finish washing the roof...
Can the black tank water back up through the hose? I thought that an overfill would go up through the toilet? I have used the same regulator and a splitter for years and I just wondered.
Just use a piece of tough wood between the top of the jack and the spring shackle. You jack one side of one axle at a time and make sure you have the trailer or fifth wheel hooked up to the truck so that nothing tries to roll on you. I have used the bottle jack from my truck and it works just...
On the Bighorn there is a switch for winterizing the system if it is set to the winter position the pump will run. I think it is for sucking antifreeze through the system but I think the pump runs as long as the switch is in the winter position. Just something to check.
We installed the 7000# brake assemblies from Etrailer this morning. They are heavier duty than the originals. The drums are made in America but the ones from Etrailer have 1/2" lug studs and normal 1/2" lug nuts that don't fit the wheel. We went to auto parts and bought fat boy lug nuts and got...
The expert at Etrailer says that it is best to stay with the brake rating that came with the trailer because of the stronger magnet in the heavier rated brakes. He says that the stronger magnet can cause the trailer to drag too much on the truck when the brakes are applied.
Thanks Keith! I will probably go with the 7000# manual brakes and that will be an upgrade. Good idea to have new drums checked for trueness. A good machine shop could make a skim cut or check for round with an indicator. I had to adjust the controller up before we came down lookout mountain on...
Thanks! I am considering going with the 7000# self adjusting brakes to give them a little more stopping power. Another good reason to go with new drums too.
I haven't done a bearing repack in a couple of years and I have never done anything to the brakes except inspect and adjust them. I want to install all new brakes this year along with my bearing repacking. I see that I can get the Nev-R-Adjust brakes now. I was wondering if these are the way to...
Re: HELP - Broke down on road - need part numbers
I keep a set of bearings all packed and ready in a plastic bag and the seals and tools in a box in my compartment. I have never needed the spare on the road but I did find one damaged when I inspected it at repacking time. I have the numbers for...
A few years ago I found the spring clamps loose on ours when I inspected. The spring clamps are the bands that go around the leaves and help keep them from splaying. I bought new spring clamps and added them to the springs. The old ones were loose and and sliding down to where they were useless...
I think that they threw in the new Interstate battery when we bought the Bighorn in July 09. This is the only battery that we have needed and it is still going strong today. Ours had an extra battery box in the front compartment that I removed for storage space.
I posted a warning on here a couple of years ago about reading the ingredients on the bottle. Some antifreeze that claims to be for RVs is poison and some is not. It pays to read the bottle.
You can hardly walk into a gun shop around here where they don't try to sell you a 9mm or bigger. I bought a pocket gun anyway- .380 auto. I'll have mine in my pocket where ever possible. Some guy said that the big gun guys act like they all shot it out at the OK corral. I wouldn't want to be on...
I am going to class next week to try to get my Illinois CCW permit and I have one from Florida. I have thought long and hard about the times that I survived scary situations and how and why I did without a weapon. I know that I will feel better having a weapon on me for self protection, just for...
I think that you did the right thing by trying to stay out of a fight with a nut job like that. Some day he will try to bully the wrong person and they will be carrying an equalizer. Evidently he isn't very smart in the first place or he would realize that already.
I think I would want the top layer of blocks close together and running in the same direction as the rv. Maybe add an extra block in the top row to make a better platform for the jack plate. Sounds like a very steep incline to be camping on. My wife would be too nervous to let me do that.
Wishing you all the best. We will certainly pray for you. You helped us find an rv park near the veterans hospital when our son had to go there. Tom and Mary
It can get to be a bad thing when the blown tire tears up your truck fender and rips all of the brake wiring out from under the back of your truck. Let alone trying to find a place to coast down to that is safe and out of the way of traffic. I'll be happy not to have any more tire problems.
Can you raise the hitch to throw more weight on the fifth wheel axles? Keep in mind that you want to keep a certain ratio of weight on the hitch for safe towing. The real pin weight is usually 1000-1500 lbs heavier than what is advertised. Any dealer who tells people that an undersized truck...
The linoleum that the wife picked out is probably a lot higher grade than the original. I pried up the edge of the carpet and cut about 2" back and all around the cabinets. It doesn't look too bad around the cabinets and I will rent a carpet stapler from Menards today and staple the edge of the...
This was our first winter where we stored the Bighorn unheated and the linoleum in the kitchen split on ours too. I can understand how that happens with the cabinets and everything fastened down on top of it, it has no place to "shrink in" when it gets cold so it just splits in the middle. So...
I cooked just about anything in ours. I did adjust the temperatures down and added extra time to make sure that things cooked all the way and then would check how well it was cooked before eating. Found out the hard way the first couple of times that I had cake or brownies on the outside and...
Re: Doh! ....
I got all hooked up at one site in Fl. and then the guy behind us comes over and says he is handicapped and needs to park his car behind us so he will be closer to his front door. I'll admit he was walking with a cane but he didn't have any trouble running around all over the park...
Everybody has to find their own time and reason to quit. I think that if I had been using any other nicotine products that I never would have quit. I took one chantix Aug. 11th 2013 and quit after 50 years. The Chantix helped me reduce the urge and cut down on the number of cigarettes but I knew...
The lug nuts should be checked with a torque wrench for the first 75 and 200 and 500 miles any time a wheel has been installed. We kept finding scews from the ceiling fan on the floor every time we towed until I finally locktited them in. I keep a close watch on all of the suspension parts. I...
Thanks! For the information about Blue Beacon truck washes. The only question I have is do they do the rubber roof properly or is this washing the sides only? Tom
I replaced several of mine with the ones I bought from Rigid Industries. I started using the one with the higher lumen rating but found out that they caused some problems in the overhead fixtures from generating too much heat. I like using the cool white ones because the clean white light they...
When we were in the freeze zone for a month last winter I bought a heat tape for the water line and cut a hose down to the same length. I taped the heat tape to the hose and insulated it with that foam pipe insulation. The heat from the heat tape carried up into the UDC and actually kept the UDC...
I have been getting a notice on my cell phone that I am getting Tapatalk messages but when I turn the phone on they are not in my -Messages- Email- or phone records, so I don't know what is going on. I thought I posted a comment on an article or two on the forum that look like they have...
I prop a windshield scraper on a stick against the brake pedal and run the seat forward enough to depress the brake pedal and check the lights on all of the trailers I tow that way. The windshield scrapper has a sponge on the other end that keeps from doing damage to the front of the seat.
If it is a long time between camping trips I get the bathroom scale out and weigh both of them just to be sure I know how much is in them. I always leave the change over switch on the right side first and then if the indicator is red I know that it switched to the other tank. This way I have one...
If yours is like ours you will hear a little bit of a roar when the water heater is running on gas. You usually don't hear much when they are running on electric. Make sure your propane is turned on and you can purge air out of the line by lighting kitchen stove burners for a few minutes. Then...
The strings in the day-night shades in the 09 bighorn just started breaking from general use. We went to Lowes and bought the honey comb blinds with the button at the bottom that takes them up. They are so much easier to raise and lower than the day-night shades ever were and a lot cheaper to...
I really don't know why it worked that way for me. All I know is that it wouldn't cool until I moved the clip and the thermistor between the fins and then it started cooling like it should. I'm no expert but like I said what works is good enough for me and I thought that if somebody else is...
My thermistor fell out of the plastic bracket while cleaning the fridge just before the Goshen rally. When I installed it into the plastic clip and hooked it on to the outside fin it didn't make contact enough to get the fridge cooling. So I removed it from the outside fin and installed it...
That's GREAT, I'll see you at the rally. The cheese and buttery crackers got to be my favorite snack while we in the south this winter and I'm glad that Kraft still distributes the cheese in other areas. It must be a controlled substance around here or something. Because we can't even get...
