    New owner

On our 21FBS there was a flex driver supplied in our owners packet. You had to take the top slide facia off and use either a racthet or drill to turn the flex shaft that went on the end of the drive motor. Never had to try it though......

    Au Revoir

Yes, leaving Heartland. Got a Grand Design Imagine 2650RK. Two slides, and my wife was willing to give up the rear bath for a rear kitchen. I've been working to do all the mods needed for 2 weeks of no-hookup camping. Has the NT for 4 years. Did a lot of embellishments to it, and just dropped...

    Au Revoir

The trailer is dead, long live the trailer! It's a vicious cycle - bigger truck = bigger trailer. Yup, traded the 21FBS on a bigger trailer. Not that there was anything wrong with the 21FBS, but I made the mistake of saying "Hey Honey, look at this floor plan." It was all over. The dealer's...

26 LRSS Ownere: Question about shower

For once, the dealer is right. Our last 2 trailers had the same shower enclosure with uncaulked walls and they never leaked. But a "soft" shower floor is another issue cured by installing some additional support or blocking under the shower pan.

    Warranty issues with North Trail?

Re: Warrenty issues? I made a cleaning wand that goes down the toilet and sprays water sideways. They're also available at camping stores. It works keeping my sensors clean. The factory tank rinser doesn't do the job. Caveat - I can hook up and dump the tank at home, and take my time rinsing...

    North Trail Maintenance Schedule

Avoid silicone caulk on the roof. The preferred caulk is Dicor self-levelling lap sealant for horizontal surfaces and Pro Flex for vertical runs. The brake drums should be pulled, the brakes inspected, and wheel bearings re-packed annually. I use 303 protectant on the rubber slide seals. Tire...

    Black tank flush

Re: Black tank flush broken I've found a toilet wand to be more effective than the flush system.

    12V DC Generator System

Sorry, but I don't see any advantage to this. Right after dinosaurs went extinct I rigged up a lawnmower engine, a 37A GM alternator, and modified voltage regulator for a buddy's hunting trailer. It did keep the battery up for lights, heater, and fridge and it was way before the inverter...

    Two Batteries in Parallel Questions

Back to the OP who doesn't want to spend a lot....... The cheapest way is to buy another G24 battery and wire it in parallel. OK, you can go with AGM's or 6V golf cart batteries but it all depends on how much you want to spend and how much dry camping you plan to do. Before its first trip I...

Kitchen faucet sprayer leaking - worth a warranty claim?

I replaced the bathroom faucet in our NT before we took the first trip in it. If the kitchen faucet gives me grief I'll replace it also. No, not worth the time for a warranty claim.

A Few More Mods to the 21FBS

Yeah, I know - pics or it didn't happen. I'll get around to posting them eventually..... Ever notice the annoying water pump chatter when a faucet is partially open? In the bathroom sink cabinet I mounted a 2-gallon residential expansion tank and plumbed it into the cold water line with...

    Shower Valve Mounting Box

Well, it's fixed. I ordered a shower mounting box from the dealer (couldn't find one on line.) I put a cut-off wheel on my 4" angle grinder and cut through the shower wall around the diverter valve. I had a replacement diverter from a previous project so I didn't have to mess around repairing...

Needing a lot of LED light bulbs

I too used the Ebay vendor in the previous posts. When I replaced the 921 bulbs I used warm white panels. Besides the tape provided I zip tied them to the reflectors to be sure they don't fall off. 2 years so far and no failures.

    Relocating TV in 22FBS

I too put a swivel bracket and tie-down strap on the TV in our 21FBS. I believe I got the mount at Target.

ATF: North Trail - Black Tank Sensor

Erratic black tank sensor readings are common across the RV industry. I've had good results with using a down-the-toilet flush wand. I'm lucky in that I can dump at home and take my time rinsing the tanks.

    Towing a 21FBS

Re: Better to have more than enough truck than not enough truck... Yeah, but the OP says it's a regular cab. How many people can he haul? It's when I see "crew cab" and "1/2-ton" that I worry.

    Towing a 21FBS

What year F150? The new 5.0 isn't your fathers 5.0. The new 5.0 (2011?) would be a good match for the 21FBS.

    Shower Valve Mounting Box

Dan - thanks for the link to the deck plate. I was at a trailer show last weekend and saw a unit with that type of access cover. I unscrewed the cover but couldn't get my hand up and onto the water line fittings. doffill, yeah - a poor design. 'Course, pulling the enclosure would make me fix...

    Shower Valve Mounting Box

Sorry, but the trailer's in storage. Every other shower setup I've seen either has a mounting box or access to the back side if the valve. This has neither.

    Shower Valve Mounting Box

Hello, Our North Trail has a corner mounted shower enclosure with the shower valve blind-mounted directly to the wall. The valve is leaking and needs replaced but there's no access from behind since it backs up to an outside wall. Obviously the shower valve was installed in the enclosure before...

    Hello all!

Welcome! We find our 21FBS is a nice size for the two of us. Not having a bedroom wall gives it an open feeling, and DW likes the bathroom and storage. The length is still short enough to get into sites we found when we had our pop-up. d_fergie, a few others, and myself have done some mods to...

    Half ton towable travel trailer

As soon as I see "1/2-ton" and "Supercrew" I worry. If it has a 7200# or 7350# GVW you'll exceed the GVW rating before the tow rating if you load it up with 2 adults, kids, dog ect.

    New 2014 22 FBS OWNER

Maintenance (must have been asleep) - I forgot to mention wheel bearings. Depending on use and mileage they should be re-packed every year or 2. It gives you a chance to inspect the brakes as well.

    New 2014 22 FBS OWNER

Welcome and congrats on the new trailer. We went from a pop-up, to a hybrid, then the 21FBS (a tad shorter & no couch compared to the 22FBS.) My wife has the trailer almost fully stocked with its own kitchen utensils, bedding, food staples, and even some camping clothes. A bit of food shopping...

    2014 22RBK. Cabinet under TV.

Well, it appears similar to the one in my 21FBS. Disconnect the shore power, remove the converter front cover, and then remove the converter. There's enough slack in the wires to pull the converter out of the cabinet. Now you can see what you have. Yes, you can recover some usable space if you...

ATF: North Trail - holding tanks

Yes, but if Heartland follows industry standards that 36 gallon fresh water INCLUDES the 6-gallon water heater. So you really have a 30-gallon tank.

    2015 BH 3260 EL battery

If you always have hookups, one battery is all you need. But - we go to campgrounds w/o hookups a few times a year. I installed a second battery and converted to LED lights to cut the power consumption.

    another shower faucet challenge

Interesting - I have the same problem - no access short of disassembling the enclosure. Anybody know of a source for an access cover? I have no qualms about cutting a hole in the enclosure. Or - if you have a screw-type access cover, who's the manufacturer of the enclosure? Maybe I can order one...

    Pressure leak after heating water

Seeps out onto the floor? Is it overfilling the bowl? If the water system doesn't have any check valves on the water heater (mine doesn't) then the pressure rises on both the hot and cold side as the water heats up. As the water expands it backflows out the cold inlet on the water heater...

Can we add to the microwave outlet?

I piggy-backed off the microwave outlet and added a surface mount box and outlet to the underside of the cabinet. Yeah, we realize you can't run the microwave & coffee maker at the same time but it's no big deal.

    Bike Rack capacity?

I've never used the pull-out rack on our NT. But without checking the owners manual I believe the rack has a capacity of 150#, or 100# if the spare tire is mounted on the bumper.

Setting up 12 Volt System for Best Dry Camping and CPAP Use

I don't have a CPAP machine, but I've heard there's a heater on them that draws a lot of power and you should turn it off when running on a battery. Even if you switch to 2-six volt batteries I doubt you'll be able to go the 5-6 days you want. You MIGHT get 2 days out if your single 12V now, but...
